* Raise $30,000 *
* Log 600,000 minutes of reading *
It’s time for our Read-A-Thon—our PTA’s annual fall fundraiser! Last year, our students logged more than 10,000 hours of reading and we raised over $30,000 to support PTA-funded initiatives. This year we’re excited to bring back this community-building, reading-promoting event. See below for pics of our kick off assembly on September 26th, including a special appearance by Swimmy and a performance from the MES Teachers Band!
Here’s what you need to know:
What does my kid need to do?
Over the next four weeks, students will be challenged to read, be read to, and listen to audio books as much as possible! Students will bring home reading logs that must be returned every Friday to count toward their weekly goal.
What do I need to do?
Donate at https://app.schoolfundr.org/fund/mesread2025 (Click the big blue “Support this Cause” button and select your participant!) You can choose to make a flat donation or sponsor your student per minute they read.
Sharing with your network! You can share the fundraiser link on social media and via email and text! This is crucial since a big portion of our donations come from extended family and friends - grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, etc. We'd also love connections to businesses interested in supporting our school if you know of any!
What does this fundraiser support?
This is the PTA’s one big fundraising push throughout the year, and it supports all of our programs and initiatives, including:
Community events like Roll on Fall, Winter Market, STEM Night, Multicultural Night, the End of Year Picnic, and 5th Grade Graduation
Cultural assemblies
Field trips
Teacher classroom stipends
Special projects like pottery, poetry, and Dolphins Discover
Decodable Readers for early readers in kindergarten and 1st grade
Campus beautification, including our courtyard garden & outdoor education programs as well as the new mural in the front hallway, new gym sound system, and teacher lounge remodel
Recess equipment
Support for Dolphin families through Families Helping Families
Staff appreciation, including stocking the staff lounge and the Sunshine Committee
And much, much more!
Help us support our school, our students, and our teachers/staff at McDougle. Let's do this, Dolphin Pod! 🐬🐬
