What is the PTA?
Mission: Make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
At McDougle Elementary School, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents and staff who work closely together and with the administration to plan and organize school events, raise funds for the school, and support staff and parents in whatever way is needed. This includes:
Educational Activities: The PTA provides all teachers and staff with a stipend (approximately $10,000 each year), pays for cultural events, funds campus cleanup, provides stipends to support after-school clubs, and many other related activities.
Community Building: Sponsors and assists with events that focus on helping parents connect and provide social opportunities for kids—including the Popsicles on the Playground, End of Year Block Party, and Gardens and Grounds Clean Up.
Book Fair: The PTA runs the Book Fair at the school, raising money for books for the classrooms while also fundraising to provide books for families who might not be able to shop at the Fair themselves.
Advocacy: Provides important information to parents about policy changes at the state and local level.
Teacher Appreciation: The PTA helps support our teachers all year long with a Back-to-School Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation Week, Teachers' Lounge Snacks, and our big Renovation in 2022.
Family Support: Provides funds for parent education & babysitting for evening school events and raises funds for Families Helping Families to provide food, supplies, and other support to families in need.
